FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How exactly does this work?
We build a registry where artists and nonprofits can be verified and register their digital wallet. Artists can tokenize (digitalize on a public blockchain) their artwork and the repartition of donation.

On the other hand, we developed a mobile app so art lovers can access information and support the artist simply by taking a picture of the artwork. If the artwork is not on the app yet, you can also add it as a user until its creator join us on the app

Why should I contribute to a street artist?
Street art is impactful but costly. Street artists have minimal means to live from their art without compromising their creative freedom. While a musician can leave a hat on the sidewalk, street artists have very few ways of making money without selling original works or painting commissioned pieces. Giving your contribution will help to support them, encourage artistic creation and keep the beauty of street art on public locations around the world.
Is the money solely going to the artist?
For the moment we aren’t taking any commissions or transactions. However, as we are operating on a decentralized platform, there are some network fees we cannot avoid. In the future, it is possible that we take a small percentage in order to sustain new features and cover these network fees.

Soon, it will be possible for the artist to automatically redistribute a part of their funds to non-profit organizations
What is Blockchain and Ethereum?
Blockchain is the technology underlying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum. It is a powerful tech used to create digital currencies but there are many other interesting uses.

Ethereum is another Decentralized network. We built the app with Blockchain as it has many interesting properties and features that we can apply to the street art world.

What is street art?
Graffiti drawings, graffiti letters, graffiti wall art, spray painted artwork on subways, bridges, mural covered walls, street artwork, street paintings are examples of street art on public locations. Urban street art exists under different forms, names and can point out to numerous statements about identity, society, empowerment, or politics.

“Street art & graffiti art are such a pure art form. It is so democratic. Art by anyone for everyone. It offers so much but asks for so little.”

Although beauty is subjective and the definitions of street art are broad, we can all see it when it is there.
Can I register without giving away my real identity?
Absolutely ! We are aware that street art is prohibited and restricted in some parts of the world. We use cryptocurrencies to make donations possible without having to provide your bank account details. We don’t need to know your real identity; we just have to make sure you are the artist you claim to be.
How do we verify who the street artist really is?
The street artist who wants to be referenced with Wallkanda App must send tangible proof that they are the author of the street art. For instance, they can take photographs of themselves before and after painting the street art.

The verification of an artist's identity in relation to the artwork is based on a system of proof and AI. This artificial intelligence identifies the work and sees if it corresponds to the artist's style.

This process has 3 layers of proof: the direct one, the social one & the technical one.
